China Planning Another Moon Mission and Mars Mission in Next Year

With the success of the Chang’e-4 Probe landing on the far side of the moon, the Chinese Space Agency is planning another mission to the Moon. The Chang’e-4 success has encouraged the Chinese Space Agency to plan another Moon mission at the end of this year and also a Mars Mission early next year. The National Space Agency of the Peoples Republic of China released a statement confirming the plans of the second moon mission with Chang’e-5 Rover and also a Mars mission in 2020. The move is considered as China’s tries to become Space Industry leader when the United States is handing over the industry to Private companies.

The Chang’e-4 Mission was the first one in human history to land on the far side of the Moon. Now, with the Chang’e-5 Mission, the Chinese Space Agency is aiming to study more about the Moon and the environment. Currently, the Chang’e-4 is taking pictures of the Natural Satellite of the Planet and also conducting the biological experiments with the included modules. If the Chang’e-5 can collect the data and samples from the surface of the moon, then it would be the first one after 1976 as the last samples were brought back by Appollo mission astronauts.

Wu Yanhua, deputy director of China’s space agency, said in the press conference that along with the Chang’e-5, the State is willing to attempt a Mars mission. The mission will focus on studying the red planet and collect the data. This is the first Mars-Exploration mission from the Chinese Space Agency. When asked about the Human mission on Moon, Wu Yanhua said that there are no intentions of sending humans on Moon shortly.
